R.’s trip
Paris is vast, and now new challenges begin. Finding a job, a place to sleep, and sorting out his immigration status. It’s not easy, because the long journey has also been one of many compromises made just to survive, and Rachid is physically and mentally exhausted. It is hard to trust anyone, and the fear of falling into the wrong hands and being deported often leads him to make poor decisions. A long journey begins for R., during which, fortunately, he also meets many people – lawyers, activists and volunteers – who help him. R. realises that his journey is not over; on the contrary, another one has begun, with new difficulties, and that he must face and resolve them without running away if he truly wants to start a new life.
R. travelled by plane, train, freight_train, walk, police_car, bus, , car and passed through 11 countries: Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, France.
The trip lasted in total 949 days, 46 of which spent traveling and 903 of which spent staying in places.
