M.’s trip
“"I had to wait to work because I couldn't take courses or do anything else since I had been identified in Croatia. I should have returned to Croatia. Lawyers helped me, I waited eight months, and when the police were looking for me, I would go to another city for a while and then return to Trieste, until my obligation to Croatia expired and I applied for Italy. I entered the ICS reception centre and now I work in a pizzeria. They pay me very little: I have a contract for three hours a day for 600 euros, but I work many more hours and they pay me 400 euros. However, I need to work in order to stay. My dream is to go back to working with stone resin, but it's not easy because I have to take a course and there aren't any available at the moment. I like jobs where you make things with your hands: I have also made plaster sculptures using a spoon and fork.»
